RUNNING BLOG

Friday January 6 2017

First night using my new Polar M200 Running Watch. I like it. I like seeing my laps and my pace, (although a faster pace would be nice). Cold again at least -10 Celcius but Wind had died down. And it was sunny because I bagged off early from work and could start my run at 4:47 p.m.!

Wednesday January 4 2017

Run CLub - ran with Derek to the Cul-de-Sac and beyond to the YMCA and back Traynor. 7.2k or something. Very cold and windy but oddly fine. Wore regular cotton socks and feet were warm.

Sunday January 1 2017

Late "day of" registration for Resolution run at Kaufman Y. $74.15 (incl tax!!). Betty had got me to go. Slow 10k approx 56 minutes (exact time not known because it was not chip timed).

Friday Dec 30

8k double loop around chicopee. Quite warm but had fancy hood thingy on anyway and hat.

Wednesday Dec 28

D.O.H Delayed Onset Hangover. I felt fine this morning but around noon I started to feel it. Ran ok though.

Monday Dec 26

Birthday morning 8.5 - 9k up at Pike Bay. Started off on Widgeon Cove Road and took it til the end. A little slippery with the freezing rain but the sander had been out before my 8:30 a.m. jaunt.

Friday Dec 23

Early morning jog to Fairway hill and back. Found myself steeplechasing over the mini-mounds where the sidewalks met the road.

Tuesday Dec 13

Overdressed for the -3 no wind run to Chicopee. But the recent snowfall meant the trails were not clear -- so did 2 rounds of Old Chicopee subdivision. Used my brown suade gloves because I was too cold with my new Asics the other day. Also used my over-the-head bandana, a hat and an undershirt!

Sunday Nov 20

Missed Run Club because -- well I missed it. Ran in the late afternoon around my neighbourhood. 10k I think. It was a good run despite the snow-ish windy weather. (tights of course!!)

Friday Nov 18

Day off (supposed to be 3k easy) -- but.... and I gotta miss volleyball too because of WORK --- Ugh! ** ordered large Panzerotti for delivery! **

Thursday Nov 17

Bagged off the running club :( Anyway -- got home and did my usual Franklin-River loop -- but spiced it up with Fartleks! I feel good.

Wednesday Nov 16

walked home from the GO station. Sat on couch and then did the 7 minute workout downstairs thinking all the time how to write a computer program to "Ding" every 30 seconds and 10 seconds.

Tuesday Nov 15

7k hills. Chicopee - really the foothills to Chicopee. After summiting, there's a long gradual downhill and then a full kilometer straightaway -- which I feel I have to motor on! At 6 degrees celsius the weather didn't meet the "tights threshold." That would be Under 5 as Joe told me on Sunday.

Sunday Nov 13

LSD 10k with the Running Room run Club. I started out with Derek but broke off about 3k in. Beautiful morning! Wore the Tights for the first time. (although almost non-tight conditions).

Saturday Nov 12

X-training day so I did the 7 minute Scientific Workout. 12 exercises 30 seconds each with 10 seconds break in between. I hurt.

Friday Nov 11

Stood in the cold wind for an hour at the cenetaph, (does that cound for anything?) -- also played volleyball.

Thursday Nov 10

Fartleks around Wilson Park. It's hard.

Wednesday Nov 9

Easy 5k -- except it didn't feel like it - perhaps an empty stomach - perhaps my bare legs - perhaps it was all in my head after my great run yesterday.

Tuesday Nov 8

4 hills and climbing! Hiked over to Fairway Road. Did 4 circuits of hills with some Fartleks thrown in for good measure. Ran on a full stomach after dining with my mother (St. Louis roast beef, brown rice, beans, cold pressed juice and some taboulis thrown in for good measure. And after -- had to give myself a sponge bath downstairs using the laundry tub because of the bathroom reno. Not pleasant.

Sunday Nov 6

7 degrees and climbing! Supposed to have been LSD (Long Slow Distance) but a new guy joined Derek & I so we had to go for it. Hidden Valley route was about 11k.

Saturday Nov 5

Gorgeous day -- so of course it's my day off!

Friday

Bought tights with fleece insulation in Guelph - my first pair ever! Announced it to the world on Facebook. The saleswoman laughed at all my jokes -- so of course I had to spend almost $200.00 on a sport where running shoes should suffice.

Thursday

Did Tempo run with Derek. 4 laps around Wilson Park - each faster than the last. It worked. Nice cool down jog on the way back too. Perfect night -- not too cool.
Beautiful.

Wednesday

5k with the gang -- around the cul-de-sac. Raining! Dodging Puddles -- is that a rock group?

Tuesday November 1 2016

5k run around the block -- felt great! Tried some x-training after and couldn't even do a modified pushup -- not ONE! Apres --- supper of left over whitefish, coleslaw, boiled potatoes with 4% choc milk! YES 4% !! -- dessert 1 choc piece
